If you don't see the answer here, drop me a line, I'm happy to answer whatever questions you have!
If clinically indicated, I prescribe medications for weight loss. There are several medications typically used for weight loss, some injectable and some oral. Some medications are obtained from your regular, local pharmacy, and others are obtained from mail order pharmacies. At this time, I do not provide the medications I prescribe.
Medications are not generally included, however Lipo-B shots (weekly) are included in the program. Some patients have insurance coverage for weight loss medications, and if so, I strive to use the insurance benefits to lower the out-of-pocket cost for the patient.
Compounded medications are those medications prepared in a licensed 503a/503b pharmacy. I use only reputable compounding pharmacies located in the Florida Panhandle. The FDA does not regulate compounded medications, but when brand name medications are in short-supply (as deemed by the FDA), compounding pharmacies are allowed to manufacture the "generic" form of the medicines. If we decide that compounded medications are best for you, we will discuss further the pros and cons of using compounded medicines.
The weight loss program is a 12 week program including a 60-90 minute initial evaluation and every other week check-ins (via office visit or telemedicine), initial labs (and follow up labs if required), weekly Lipo-B shots, diet and nutrition counseling and planning, and recommendations for exercise. See above regarding medication prescriptions.
Yes! I offer Emsculpt and Vanquish ME body sculpting. Emsculpt is an electromagnetic muscle building/fat burning device for abdomen, thighs, buttocks, calves, and upper arms. Vanquish ME, a powerful radiofrequency device, can also be used on the same areas and is an excellent treatment for spot-fat loss for individuals with a BMI >30.
I do not file your insurance, but I can give you a detailed invoice so you can file on your own. This is usually a pretty straight-forward process. I would be considered an out-of-network provider. Your medication coverage is not affected by me being an out-of-network provider.
If you were prescribed medications for weight loss, and you are continuing with medications, we will establish an "as needed" arrangement for visits and these will be billed individually. Some medications require follow up monthly, others are every-other-month, so your plan will be specific to your care plan.
I am a Family Nurse Practitioner, so I am certified and licensed to treat all ages (infancy through geriatrics). I do treat children for weight loss on a case-by-case basis. Please call my office to discuss the specifics about your child.
New patients are required to have the initial face-to-face visit in the office. I cannot treat anyone who is not physically inside FL (even via telemedicine visits), but if you are anywhere in FL, I can see you via telemedicine on any subsequent visit.
I no longer accept new patients for primary care. Many times, the treatment of other diseases/disorders go hand-in-hand with the treatment of overweight or obesity. We will definitely discuss other issues, and I will make recommendations as needed. In certain situations, I do provide hormone replacement therapy as an adjunct to weight loss for perimenopausal/menopausal women.
